HomeMy WebLinkAbout6798RESOLUTION NO. 679 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF A COMMITTEE TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF A PREMIUM ONLY FLEXIBLE BENEFIT PLAN AND TWO FLEXIBLE BENEFIT ACCOUNTS FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO WHEREAS, the administration and the employees of the City of Pueblo have expressed interest in a flexible benefit plan; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that such a plan would have cost savings to the employee and possible cost savings to the City in regards to some of the employees; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: Section 1. A flexible benefit plan committee of seven persons is hereby formed consisting of the following: City Manager or designee City Attorney or designee Finance Director or designee Personnel Director or designee and an employee selected by each bargaining unit (Police, Fire and General Service) Section 2. The committee shall study and make recommendations to the City Council concerning the feasibility of: (a) a premium only flexible benefit program with respect to payment of employees' share of health insurance premiums to be administered by the City of Pueblo (b) two flexible benefit accounts administered by an outside party (carrier); the first being for medical care and the second for dependent care. All costs for administration of these accounts are to be borne by the employees participating in these plans. The health care account will be limited to $2,400 /year and the dependent care limited to $5,000 /year ($2,500 if employee is married and employee and spouse file separately).
