A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION TO ELECT TO BECOME A
SELF - INSURED PUBLIC ENTITY AND ACT AS ITS OWN
INSURANCE CARRIER FOR COMPENSATION AND BENE-
FITS UNDER THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION ACT OF
COLORADO AND APPROVING A GENERAL CONTRACT OF
INDEMNITY WITH AETNA LIFE AND CASUALTY FOR A
WORKERS' COMPENSATION BOND
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Pursuant to § § -44- 101(1) and 204, C.R.S., the City of Pueblo
does hereby elect to become a self- insured public entity and act
as its own insurance carrier for compensation and benefits under
the Workers' Compensation Act of Colorado and in furtherance
thereof the City Manager and Director of Finance are authorized
and directed to (i) take all action and file all applications
necessary and required to become a self- insured public entity and
procure a self- insurance permit from the Executive Director of the
Colorado Department of Labor And Employment and (ii) include in
the annual budget and appropriations ordinance an insurance
reserve fund for self- insurance purposes in such amounts as the
City Council shall deem necessary for the purposes and uses of the
insurance reserve fund.

The General Contract of Indemnity between the City of Pueblo
and Aetna Life & Casualty for a $600,000 State of Colorado
Workers' Compensation Bond, a copy of which is attached hereto,
having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby
approved. The President of the City Council is authorized to
execute the General Contract of Indemnity in the name of the City
and the City Clerk is directed to affix the seal of the City
thereto and attest same.

All actions heretofore taken in furtherance of the City
becoming a self- insured public entity under the Worker's
Compensation Act of Colorado are hereby approved, confirmed and
ratified.
