RESOLUTION NO. 16372
A RESOLUTION APPROVING COMPENSATION WITH
RESPECT TO A LEGAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH
SEMPLE, FARRINGTON, EVERALL AND CASE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1
Compensation set forth in the Legal Services Agreement with Semple, Farrington,
Everall and Case, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3_
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage.

This Resolution approves compensation set forth in the Legal Services Agreement with
Semple, Farrington, Everall and Case, a copy of which is attached hereto.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Not applicable.
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 8-14, City Charter, the City is required to submit to binding interest
arbitration all unresolved issues in negotiating a successor contract with IAFF Local 3.
IAFF Local 3 currently utilizes legal counsel who specializes in such matters to
represent them. It would be in the best interest of the City to engage the services of
legal counsel who also specialize in such representation. To conserve the Law
Department's budget for professional services, the Law Department is and will
generally be handling the negotiations and if needed the interest arbitration, but the law
firm of Semple, Farrington, Everall and Case is being retained to provide assistance on
an as needed basis with respect to such matters. Pursuant to Section 6-7 of the City
Charter, special council is retained solely by the City Attorney, but compensation is
approved by City Council.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Brent Case and other Partners/Counsel - $310 per hour
Associate Attorneys - $210 per hour Law Clerks/Paralegals - $110 per hour
