BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo Diversified Industries in the
amount of $1,500 to sponsor the Dancing with the Pueblo Starz at 5.00 PM at the
Pueblo Convention Center, on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported the event in 2016-2019 by purchasing tickets and sponsored this
event in 2017 for $600, in 2023 for $1,000, in 2024 for $1,250, and in 2025 for $1,500.
Council also sponsored $600 in COVID relief funds in 2020 as they were unable to hold
the fundraising event.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Brett Boston is requesting $1,500 to sponsor Pueblo Diversified
Industries' fundraiser, Dancing with the Pueblo Starz . The event will take place on
Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 5.00 PM at the Pueblo Convention Center.
Pueblo Diversified Industries is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to create pathways of
opportunity where people with diverse abilities can thrive through meaningful education,
competitive employment, and supportive residential services.
Dancing with the Pueblo Starz is a community -driven fundraising event benefiting
Pueblo Diversified Industries, bringing together local leaders, businesses, and

supporters for an evening of entertainment and philanthropy. Funds raised directly
support programs and opportunities that enhance independence and vocational
success for individuals in service.
Funds raised at the event will be reinvested directly into programming to enhance
opportunities and outcomes for individuals they serve. A key priority is the renovation
and modernization of their kitchen space to better support Activities of Daily Living Skills
(ADLS), creating a more functional, accessible, and welcoming environment where
individuals can build independence through hands-on learning.
In addition, they will begin development of a commercial kitchen designed to support
vocational training opportunities. This space will provide practical workforce skill
development, helping participants gain meaningful, transferable job skills in food
preparation, kitchen operations, safety, and teamwork. By investing in these
improvements, DWPS funding will strengthen both daily living supports and pathways to
greater independence and employment readiness for those in service.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,500 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Diversified
Industries.

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Brett Boston.
