A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 60 IN
THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 TO SPONSOR THE 66TH ANNUAL
SUMMER MUSICAL AT MEMORIAL HALL ON FRIDAY, JULY
10, 2026, AT 7:00 PM, SATURDAY, JULY 11, 2026, AT 7:00 PM,
AND SUNDAY, JULY 12, 2026, AT 2:00 PM
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo School District No. 60 to sponsor the
66th Annual Summer Musical at Memorial Hall on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM, Saturday,
July 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM, and Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SFCTION 3_
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo School District No. 60 in
the amount of $2,000 to sponsor the 66th Annual Summer Musical at Memorial Hall on
Friday, July 10, 2026, at 7.00 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 7.00 PM, and Sunday,
July 12, 2026, at 2.00 PM.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2024, and 2025 for $1,000.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Joe Latino is requesting $2,000 to sponsor Pueblo School District
No. 60's 66th Annual Summer Musical. The performances will take place at Memorial
Hall on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 7.00 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 7.00 PM, and
Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2.00 PM.
Pueblo School District 60's mission is to provide a high -quality education that gives
each student the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to lead a life of purpose and
impact. In August 1959, a cherished Pueblo tradition was born — The Pueblo Summer
Musical. Now celebrating its 66th Anniversary, this beloved production continues to
bring our community together, this year with The Wizard of Oz.
Every July, nearly 3,000 audience members gather to witness the stage transform into
a world of enchantment and storytelling. The Summer Musical is an annual community

theater program that provides local youth with the opportunity to participate in a
professionally produced musical theater experience, and each year, 75 to 100 actors
and musicians from across southern Colorado bring the magic of musical theater to life
for nearly 3,000 audience members.
The program brings together students, staff, families, and community members to
celebrate the performing arts while fostering creativity, collaboration, confidence, and
leadership among participants. Through rehearsals and public performances, students
gain valuable experience in acting, singing, dancing, stage production, and teamwork in
a safe and supportive environment.
Sponsorship funds will be used to offset production expenses, including royalties, sets,
costumes, publicity, personnel, and the venue.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $2,000 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Pueblo School District No.
60.

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Joe Latino.
