SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO PUEBLO ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY (DBA PUEBLO ZOO) IN THE
AMOUNT OF $1,800 TO SPONSOR ZOOFARI AT 4:30 PM AT THE
PUEBLO ZOO ON SATURDAY, JUNE 20TH, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo Zoological Society (DBA
Pueblo Zoo) in the amount of $1,800 to sponsor Zoofari at 4:30 PM at the Pueblo Zoo
on Saturday, June 20th, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council sponsored this event in 2024 for $1,500 and in 2025 for $2,000. In previous
years, City Council purchased individual tickets rather than sponsoring a table.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Joe Latino is
fundraiser Zoofari. The event will take place on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 4:30 PM
at the Pueblo Zoo.
The Pueblo Zoo is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to empower people to engage in the
conservation of animals and their natural habitats.
Zoofari is the Pueblo Zoo's biggest and most important annual fundraiser. The event is
an exclusive evening filled with behind-the-scenes animal experiences, special tours of
their grounds, tasty cuisine, and their highly anticipated silent and live auctions
featuring one-of-a-kind packages that you cannot find anywhere else in town. The
energy, atmosphere, and community is unmatched. Based on guest feedback, they
have moved the event to Saturday to make sure folks can arrive early enough to take
full advantage of all the event has to offer.
Zoofari draws a vibrant crowd of business leaders, civic partners, and dedicated
supporters, making Zoofari not only a celebration, but an opportunity to connect with
other dedicated community members.
All proceeds from the event are put towards Zoo operations, helping them continue to
provide exceptional care for more than 300 animals, bring engaging educational
programs to nearly every elementary school in our community, and create meaningful
experiences for the more than 90,000 guests who walk through their gates each year.
Zoofari is the driving force behind their annual impact and fuels everything they are able
to do.
This sponsorship tier includes 8 tickets to the event.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,800 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Zoological Society
(DBA Pueblo Zoo).

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Joe Latino.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY (DBA
PUEBLO ZOO) IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,800 TO SPONSOR

JUNE 20TH, 2026
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,800 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Zoological Society (DBA: Pueblo Zoo)
to sponsor Zoofari at 4:30 pm at the Pueblo Zoo on Saturday, June 20th, 2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
