SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO MARIPOSA CENTER FOR SAFETY IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,700,
TO SPONSOR THE 25TH ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO WOMEN FROM 6:00-
9:00 PM AT THE PUEBLO UNION DEPOT ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER
10, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Mariposa Center for Safety in the
amount of $1,700 to sponsor the 25th Annual Tribute to Women from 6:00-9:00 PM at
the Pueblo Union Depot on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2025 for $2,500, in 2024 for $1,000, and in 2018, 2019
and 2020 for $500.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Dianne Danti is requesting $2,500 to sponsor Mariposa Center for
Women and applying the previously awarded
sponsorship of the Ode to Chocolate event for $800 which was cancelled. The event
will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Pueblo Union Depot.
Mariposa Center for Safety is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to empower survivors of
domestic violence, family abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking through
increasing self-sufficiency and self-worth, education, prevention, victim advocacy, and
by offering emergency services, provisions, and shelter. In 2025, Mariposa Center for
Safety provided emergency shelter services to 533 adults and children, 7,416 meals,
2,534 shelter nights and answered 654 crisis calls.
sales, sponsorships, and the silent auction directly support the many programs they
offer, including the 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, Teresa's Place Safe Child
Exchange and community education and outreach. The event recognizes exceptional
women in our community who promote hope and have contributed their time, efforts,
and commitment to the betterment of our community. Honorees are nominated in one
of four categories: Young Leader (ages 1621), Professional Achievement, Community
Service, and Triumph Over Adversity. Nominations will open on July 15, 2026.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,700 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Mariposa Center for
Safety.

Not applicable.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Dianne Danti.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,700 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Mariposa Center for Safety to sponsor the 25th
Annual Tribute to Women at 6:00 PM at the Pueblo Union Depot on Saturday, October 10,
2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
