CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO EL MOVIMIENTO SIGUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 TO SPONSOR
THEIR 2026 CINCO DE MAYO EVENT AT 12:00 PM AT PLAZA VERDE
PARK ON TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of El Movimiento Sigue in the amount
of $2,000 to sponsor their 56th Annual Cinco de Mayo event at 12:00 PM at Plaza Verde
Park on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council has supported this event annually from 2023 to 2025 for $2,000.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Selena Ruiz -Gomez is requesting $2,000 to sponsor El Movimiento
Sigue's 56th Annual Cinco de Mayo event. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 5,
2026, at 12:00 PM at Plaza Verde Park.
The Cinco de Mayo event is a day for families, Mexican and Indigenous traditions,
commemorations, and speakers. The event is free and features live entertainment, a
lowrider car show, numerous venders, and activities for children from 12:00-6:00 PM.
The contribution will be used to cover entertainment costs for the performers and
speakers comprised of Folkloric Dancers, Aztec Dancers, musical ensembles, vocalists,
individuals, Mariachi Las Dahlia.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $2,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to El Movimiento Sigue.

Not applicable.

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Selena Ruiz -Gomez.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to El Movimiento Sigue to sponsor their 56th annual
Cinco de Mayo event at 12:00 PM at Plaza Verde Park on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
