CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO B.I.T.S OF FREEDOM CORP (DBA BITS OF FREEDOM) IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,000 TO SPONSOR THE RUN FOR THE ROSES
KENTUCKY DERBY FUNDRAISER AT 3:00 PM AT PUEBLO
DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIES ON MAY 2, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of B.I.T.S of Freedom in the amount
of $2,000 to sponsor their Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby Fundraiser at 3:00 PM at
Pueblo Diversified Industries on May 2, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2025 for $2,000.
BACKGROUND:
Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby Fundraiser. The event will take place on May 2,
2026 at 3:00 PM at Pueblo Diversified Industries.

the transformative power of therapeutic horseback riding and inclusive outdoor
experiences. They serve youth and young adults with disabilities, fostering physical
strength, emotional regulation, confidence, and community connection in a safe,
supportive environment.
Run for the Roses is a Pueblo-based Kentucky Derbythemed community fundraiser
featuring a silent auction, raffle, and social gathering. 100% of funds raised will be used
for program delivery, including rider scholarships, horse care, adaptive equipment, and
instructor support. Funds directly offset the cost of providing safe, accessible therapeutic
riding services for participants who face financial and access barriers.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $2,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to B.I.T.S of Freedom Corp.

Not applicable.

Not applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Brett Boston.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to B.I.T.S of Freedom Corp to sponsor the Run for
the Roses Kentucky Derby Fundraiser at 3:00 PM at Pueblo Diversified Industries on May 2,
2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
