SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO PUEBLO LATINO VETERANS ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$2,500 TO SPONSOR THE HISPANIC HERITAGE EXHIBIT AT THE EL
PUEBLO HISTORY MUSEUM AND SANGRE DE CRISTO ARTS AND
CONFERENCE CENTER FROM SEPTEMBER 15 - OCTOBER 14, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo Latino Veterans Association
in the amount of $2,500 to sponsor the Hispanic Heritage Exhibit at the El Pueblo History
Museum and Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center from Sept 15 - October 14,
2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council has not previously supported this exhibit but support their Annual Legacies of
Courage Awards Ceremony in 2025 for $1,500.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Selena Ruiz-Gomez is requesting $2,500 to sponsor Pueblo Latino
Pueblo History Museum from September 15-29, then at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and
Conference Center from September 30 - October 14, 2026.
The Pueblo Latino Veterans Association is partnering with the El Pueblo History Museum
and Sangre de Cristo Arts Center to provide a traveling exhibit of all 58 awardees of the
Legacies of Courage Awards with framed photos and biographies of the awardees. The
exhibit will be on display for two weeks at El Pueblo with an opening ceremony and two
weeks at the Arts Center (activities will include student and community events and
special speakers with cultural and arts festivities). The funds will be put towards printing
and framing the 58 photographs for the display. Sponsorship of the exhibit includes 10
tickets to their Legacies of Courage Awards Ceremony on October 10, 2026, at the
Pueblo Convention Center and an ad in the program.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $2,500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Latino Veterans Association.

Not applicable.

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Selena Ruiz-Gomez.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO LATINO VETERANS
ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500 TO SPONSOR THE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Latino Veterans Association to sponsor
the Hispanic Heritage Exhibit at the El Pueblo History Museum and Sangre de Cristo Arts and
Conference Center from Sept 15 - October 14, 2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
