HomeMy WebLinkAbout16262 City Clerk's Office Item # Q2 Background Paper for Proposed Resolution COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 23, 2026 TO: President Mark Aliff and Members of City Council CC: Mayor Heather Graham VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Dianne Danti, Councilor Selena Ruiz-Gomez, Councilor SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2026 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 TO SPONSOR THE 2026 BLUE TIE GALA 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FROM 5:00 PM AT THE PUEBLO CONVENTION CENTER, ON APRIL 10TH, 2026 SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo Child Advocacy Center in the amount of $2,000 to sponsor the 2026 Blue Tie Gala 40th Anniversary Celebration from 5:00 PM at the Pueblo Convention Center, on April 10th, 2026. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council supported the Blue Tie Gala in 2024 and 2022 for $1,200, and their April Campaign in 2023 for $1,000. BACKGROUND: City Council Members Dianne Danti and Selena Ruiz-Gomez are requesting $2,000 to sponsor Pueblo Child Advocacy Center's 2026 Blue Tie Gala 40th Anniversary Celebration. The event will take place on April 10th, 2026 5:00 PM at the Pueblo Convention Center. This sponsorship tier includes 10 tickets to the event. safe, child-centered environment for the investigation of child abuse. Guided by their vision of empowering children and strengthening families by reducing trauma and restoring hope, they work to ensure that every child is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Through a coordinated, trauma-informed approach, they bring together law enforcement, child protection, medical, and mental health professionals to minimize re- traumatization and improve outcomes for children. Their goals are to protect children, reduce the long-term effects of abuse, strengthen families through access to supportive resources, and educate the community on prevention, recognition, and reporting, creating a safer and more informed Pueblo for all children. Sponsorship funds will be used to support event expenses such as venue costs, catering, audiovisual needs, and materials. Funds raised at the gala will be used to fund their programs providing prevention education, trauma-informed services, and intervention for children who have experienced abuse in a safe, child-centered environment while honoring their 40 years of service to our community. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Payment of funds in the amount of $2,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Child Advocacy Center. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose. Payment in the amount of $2,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2026 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Child Advocacy Center to sponsor the 2026 Blue Tie Gala 40th Anniversary Celebration from 5:00 PM at the Pueblo Convention Center, on April 10th, 2026. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
