PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council previously approved Ordinance 10158 transferring $362,288.40 to Project AP2203 and awarding a design contract to CSHQA, Inc. for the development of shovel ready construction plans. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo Memorial Airport is a great asset to Pueblo but needs renovations to improve the appearance and effectiveness of the current facilities. Primary jobs will be one area of focus for PEDCO in 2025 and many years to come. To attract the type of general aviation desired, the overall appearance of the airport, including the terminal, is critical. Developing the infrastructure at the Pueblo Memorial Airport will assist PEDCO in attracting, establishing and facilitating the creation of primary jobs at the Airport and in Pueblo. The Sales and Use Tax Capital Improvement Projects Fund allows funding for remodeling and renovation of existing buildings as well as infrastructure development to establish and facilitate the creation of primary jobs within the City of Pueblo. P.M.C. § 14-4-85.5(a)(1) & (3).
