SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO MT CARMEL VETERANS SERVICE CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,500 TO SPONSOR THE 2026 SALUTE TO HEROES AT 4:00 PM AT
WEISBROD AIRCRAFT MUSEUM ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2026
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Mt. Carmel Veterans Service
Center in the amount of $1,500 to sponsor the 2026 Salute to Heroes at 4:00 PM at
Weisbrod Aircraft Museum on Friday, January 16, 2026.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2023 for $2,500 and in 2024 for $1,000.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Roger Gomez is requesting $1,500 to sponsor Mt. Carmel Veterans
Service Center 2026 Salute to Heroes. The Salute to Heroes will take place on Friday,
January 16, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Weisbrod Aircraft Museum.
The 4th Annual Salute to Heroes Concert will unite more than 300 community members,
veterans, and supporters at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum for an unforgettable
evening of tribute, storytelling, and celebration. This event blends ceremony, dinner, live
music, and powerful veteran stories to honor the service, sacrifice, and legacies of our
heroes. Beyond the celebration, the event raises vital funds to sustain and expand
veteran and military family programs provided by Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center
across Pueblo.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Mt Carmel Veterans Service Center to sponsor
the 2026 Salute to Heroes at 4:00 PM at Weisbrod Aircraft Museum on Friday, January 16, 2026.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
