CI2519 - CITY PARK TENNIS COURT RENOVATION AND TRANSFERRING $609,631 FROM CAPITAL PROJECT CI1108 - CP TENNIS CLUBHOUSE RENOVATION INTO PROJECT NO. CI2519 SUMMARY: This Resolution establishes Capital Project CI2519 - City Park Tennis Court Renovation and transfers $609,631 from Capital Project CI1108 to pay for the replacement of the old inefficient metal halide court lights to high-efficient LED court lights. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Not applicable to this Resolution. BACKGROUND: The City Park Tennis Court Complex originally consisted of four courts that were constructed in the late 1950s. By the early to mid-1960s, the tennis facility was expanded from four to eight courts and in the early to mid-1970s, an additional nine courts completed the complex to a total of seventeen. It is estimated that the current court lights were installed in the early to mid-1970s and consist of old, inefficient metal halide light fixtures. Replacing them with new, high-efficiency LED lights will save the city a significant amount in electricity costs each year. Every seven to ten years, the courts must be resurfaced to maintain safe playing conditions and improve aesthetics. The Parks and Recreation Department is planning on resurfacing the 17 courts in the spring of 2026. It is necessary to replace the existing lights prior to resurfacing in order to patch the holes in the court surface and to prevent potential court damage during the light replacement project. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The funds available for this court light replacement project are from LT2301 and said project, CI2519. The total cost is to replace the City Park Tennis Complex lights is $1,063,500. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: The City will not be able to replace the old, inefficient City Park Tennis Complex lights if this Resolution is not approved. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: None RESOLUTION NO.16146 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PROJECT NO.
