COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO METRO VOLUNTEERS (DBA SPARK THE
CHANGE COLORADO) IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 TO
SPONSOR THE 3RD ANNUAL SUICIDE MEMORY WALK FROM
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM AT MINNEQUA LAKE PARK ON SATURDAY,
SEPTEMBER 6, 2025
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Spark the Change Colorado to sponsor the 3rd
Annual Suicide Memory Walk from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Minnequa Lake Park on Saturday,
September 6, 2025.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Spark the Change Colorado in the
amount of $1,000 to sponsor the 3rd Annual Suicide Memory Walk from 9:00 AM - 12:00
PM at Minnequa Lake Park on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Members Regina Maestri and Brett Boston are requesting $1,000 to sponsor
Spark the Change Colorado's 3rd Annual Suicide Memory Walk. The event will take
place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Minnequa Lake
Park.
The Suicide Memory Walk aims to honor the memory of those lost by suicide, support
the survivors, and break the stigma around mental health and suicide. Memory signs
requested by those who have lost someone due to suicide will line the path and at the
end of the walk, attendees will release butterflies in honor of their loved ones.
Sponsorship funds will be utilized to cover the cost to provide the memory signs.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Spark the Change Colorado.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Members Brett Boston and Regina Maestri.
