AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE TRANSFER AGREEMENT
BETWEEN CATHOLIC HEALTH INITIATIVES COLORADO (ST.
MARY CORWIN HOSPITAL), A COLORADO NONPROFIT
CORPORATION, AND THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A COLORADO
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE PUEBLO FIRE
DEPARTMENT (PFD) ALLOWING THE TRANSFER OF
PATIENTS FROM PFD TO THE HOSPITAL FOR CONTINUITY OF
CARE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The transfer agreement between the Catholic Health Initiatives Colorado and The Pueblo
Fire Department, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is approved.
SECTION 2.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement in the name and on behalf of
the City of Pueblo, where the Mayor may execute the Agreement by electronic signature and such
electronic signature shall be attributable to the Mayor and the City of Pueblo.
SECTION 3.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts
consistent with the intent of this Ordinance and the attached Agreements to effectuate the
transactions described therein.
SECTION 4.
If any section, paragraph, clause, or provision of this Ordinance shall for any reason be
held to be invalid or unenforceable, the invalidity or unenforceability of such section, paragraph,
clause, or provision shall not affect any of the remaining provisions of this Ordinance.
SECTION 5.
This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City
Council.

SUMMARY:
This Ordinance approves a transfer agreement between the Catholic Health Initiatives
Colorado doing business as St. Mary Corwin Hospital and the Pueblo Fire Department
for the best interest of the people served by the City fo Pueblo so as to facilitate the
orderly transfer of patients from PFD to Hospital for continuation of care.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Catholic Health Initiatives Colorado and The Pueblo Fire Department facilities are
located in the City of Pueblo which fall under the Pueblo Fire Department jurisdiction.
The Catholic Health Initiative Colorado runs St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. PFD
regularly transfers both emergency and nonemergency patients to St. Mary Corwin and
as such has pertinent medical information about that patient needed by St. Mary Corwin
and its providers to ensure the continuity of care. This agreement formalized the transfer
of information between PFD and St. Mary Corwin in such circumstances.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

Not applicable to this Ordinance.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not applicable to this Ordinance.
ALTERNATIVES:
Not accepting this Agreement would mean no formal understanding between PFD and
St. Mary Corwin would exist.
RECOMMENDATION:
Passage of the Ordinance.
