SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO COLORADO STATE FAIR FIESTA COMMITTEE IN THE AMOUNT
OF $1,000 TO SPONSOR THE 2025 NOCHE DE FIESTA
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER AT 5:00 PM AT PUEBLO CONVENTION
CENTER ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH, 2025
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Colorado State Fair Fiesta
Committee in the amount of $1,000 to sponsor the 2025 Noche de Fiesta scholarship
fundraiser at 5:00 PM at Pueblo Convention Center on Saturday, August 9th, 2025.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2024 for $500, and in 2023 for $300.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Dennis Flores is requesting $1,000 to sponsor Colorado State
Fair Fiesta Committee's 2025 Noche de Fiesta scholarship fundraiser. The event will
take place on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Pueblo Convention
Center.
The Colorado State Fair Fiesta Committee provides educational opportunities and
scholarships for young Hispanic students, and Fiesta Day promotes and celebrates the
Hispanic culture with the state of Colorado.
Noche de Fiesta or "Night of Celebration" is their biggest fundraising event each year
and the unofficial kickoff of the Colorado State Fair. It is the introduction of the Fiesta
Queen and Court (scholarship recipients) to the community and a celebration complete
with music and dance.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Colorado State Fair Fiesta
Committee.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.

This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Dennis Flores.

COMMITTEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 TO SPONSOR THE

AUGUST 9TH, 2025
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Colorado State Fair Fiesta Committee to
sponsor the 2025 Noche de Fiesta scholarship fundraiser at 5:00 PM at Pueblo Convention
Center on Saturday, August 9th, 2025.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
