SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO LATINAS FIRST FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500 TO
SPONSOR THE 13TH ANNUAL LATINAS FIRST FOUNDATION
LUNCHEON AT 11:30 AM, AT THE BRIGHTON EVENT VENUE IN
DENVER ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2025
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of the Latinas First Foundation in the
amount of $1,500 to sponsor the 13th Annual Latinas First Foundation Luncheon at
11:30 AM at The Brighton event venue in Denver on Friday, October 24th, 2025. This
sponsorship tier supports a table for 9 Latina students and their chaperone, and
recognition at the luncheon, in the printed program, and on their website.

None.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $1,500 to sponsor the Latinas First
2025 at 11:30 AM at The Brighton event venue in Denver.
Established in 2011 by Co-Founders Juanita Chacon and Meshach Rhoades, the
Latinas First Foundation was created to provide a critical network and support for
Latinas to reach their highest potential. The organization provides scholarships,
mentorship and networking opportunities, and honors Latina Trailblazers and Unsung
Heroines. The Latinas First Foundation celebrates and elevates the Latina community
by focusing on the cultural and historical contributions of Latinas in Colorado while
providing opportunities and resources for the next generation of Latinas.
At this event, they will recognize 60 students who have been awarded scholarships
across Colorado, and Latina Trailblazers and Unsung Heroines within the community.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,500 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Latinas First Foundation.

RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Sarah Martinez.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Latinas First Foundation to sponsor the 13th
Annual Latinas First Foundation Luncheon at 11:30 AM at The Brighton event venue in Denver
on Friday, October 24th, 2025.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
