PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council approved Ordinance 2876 on April 29, 1964, to enter into a Lease Agreement with the United States of America to allow the operation of an Air Traffic Control Tower. BACKGROUND: The current Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) was completed in 1964. In 2023, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) determined that the 1964 ATCT obsolete because it no longer met the operational needs of the FAA and a modern, taller ATCT would need to be constructed at a site that would allow the air traffic controllers to visually observe runway 8R-26L from the cab. In 2024, the FAA selected a potential new site at the Pueblo Memorial Airport south of the current ATCT. The FAA would like to enter the site selected to start construction. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: If this Resolution is not approved, the FAA will not be allowed to start construction on a new ATCT. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: 1.
