COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 14, 2025
TO: President Mark Aliff and Members of City Council
CC: Mayor Heather Graham
VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk
FROM: Andrew Hayes, Public Works Director
SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE TRAIL AROUND LAKE
MINNEQUA IN MINNEQUA PARK AS "HOBSON TRAIL"
SUMMARY:
This Resolution designates the trail around Lake Minnequa in Minnequa Park as
"Hobson Trail" in honor of Mr. Hobson's nearly half-century of dedicated and honorable
public service to communities across Colorado, including over 26 years directly to the
City of Pueblo.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Hobson, the City's Acting Director of Planning and Community Development will be
retiring in September following a career spanning more than 48 years of public service,
including 26 years of service directly to the residents, businesses, and visitors of the
City of Pueblo. In order to appropriately honor his remarkable career and the impacts
he has made, staff is recommending that the trail around Lake Minnequa be named
"Hobson Trail". This particular designation is uniquely appropriate in that Mr. Hobson
was instrumental in the establishment and development of Lake Minnequa Park.
Naming the trail at this particular location, which exists only because of his
extraordinary efforts, is an appropriate way to honor his decades of service to the
public.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

Not applicable to this Resolution.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not applicable to this Resolution.
ALTERNATIVES:
Failure to pass this Resolution will preclude the naming
