A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,500 TO SPONSOR THE 5TH ANNUAL CHILE
FESTIVAL & BALLOON FEST IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN
PUEBLO ON UNION AVENUE, STARTING AT 3PM ON FRIDAY,
SEPTEMBER 19, AND ENDING ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21,
2025, AT 5 PM
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the
5th Annual Chile Festival & Balloon Fest in Historic Downtown Pueblo on Union Avenue starting
at 3PM on Friday September 19, and ending on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 5 PM.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce
in the amount of $2,500 to sponsor the 5th Annual Chile Festival & Balloon Fest in
Historic Downtown Pueblo on Union Avenue, September 19-21, 2025.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event in 2022, 2023, and 2024 for $2,500.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $2,500 to sponsor the Pueblo
Chamber of Commerce 5th Annual Chile Festival & Balloon Fest. The festival will take
place Friday-Sunday, September 19-21, 2025 in Historic Downtown Pueblo on Union
Avenue.
The Chile and Frijoles Festival was creat
encourage our community, and region, to buy local fresh products at any of the numerous
farm stands and specialty shops available during the festival and year-round.
The event features live entertainment, street vendors, and cooking competitions. It is
held downtown along Union Avenue and draws in Pueblo residents as well as people
from across the state and around the nation.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $2,500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Chamber of Commerce.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Sarah Martinez.
