A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO THE ARC OF PUEBLO IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,000 TO SPONSOR A TABLE AT THE GOLDEN TORTILLA
EVENT ON FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2025 AT THE PUEBLO
CONVENTION CENTER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2025
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the ARC of Pueblo to sponsor the Golden Tortilla
event on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Pueblo Convention Center.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of ARC of Pueblo in the amount of
$1,000 to sponsor a table at the Golden Tortilla event on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the
Pueblo Convention Center.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council sponsored this event in 2020 with $1,000 and in 2024 with $400.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $1,000 to sponsor the ARC of
Pueblo's Golden Tortilla event on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Pueblo Convention Center.
The Arc of Pueblo's annual Golden Tortilla fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, April 19th,
2024, at the Pueblo Convention Center. The Arc of Pueblo is a nonprofit advocacy
organization. Our mission is to champion the rights, opportunities, and dignity of people
with intellectual and developmental disabilities, along with their families. ARC is currently
legal guardians for 77 individuals. When families need to petition for guardianship, the
ARC is there. They also assist in developing individualized education plans within our
schools, they coordinate resources, provide health and safety assistance, handle
appeals, and offer other vital services to enhance the quality of life for those we serve.
The Golden Tortilla aims to raise approximately $25,000 for our Arc Angel Fund which
is the lifeline for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ARC uses
these funds to purchase essentials such as beds, bedding, clothing, and other necessary
items. They also provide assistive technology devices, including iPads, which open up a
world of communication and learning for our community.
This year, Councilor Martinez is a participant in the rolling competition.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to the ARC of Pueblo.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
