SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2025 GENERAL FUND BUDGET
TO TEAM PUEBLO VOLLEYBALL IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 TO
SPONSOR THE 2025 CLUB VOLLEYBALL SEASON
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Team Pueblo Volleyball in the
amount of $1,000 to sponsor the 2025 Club Volleyball season.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $1,000 to support Team Pueblo
Volleyball for the 2025 Club Volleyball season. Team Pueblo Inc, is a non-profit
organization that coaches and competes in high level girls and boys junior volleyball.
Team Pueblo has been invited to Nationals this summer and will be representing
Southern Colorado in Minneapolis, Minnesota this July. Team Pueblo is fundraising to
help players pay for flights, food, tournament fees, and hotels. The team consists of
players from Pueblo, Southern Colorado Springs, Fountain, Alamosa, and Canon City
and has been competing against Denver and other teams. Team Pueblo is proud to have
just won a bid at the National Qualifier tournament in Denver this season, which means
Southern Colorado is finally able to compete at a level that Denver, and other big cities
are at. Any funding would help grow competitiveness in Southern Colorado, while giving
back to the community. Pueblo high school senior, Brady Dunlap, says "We see over all
sports that Denver tends to dominate in this competition. We are now finally competing
at this high level of play. We are hoping you would like to donate to our cause in growing
the sport of volleyball, and sending my team to nationals representing Southern
Colorado."
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies
Account in the 2025 General Fund Budget to Team Pueblo Volleyball.
