HomeMy WebLinkAbout6106RESOLUTION NO. 6106 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE FLYING OF THE POW /MIA FLAG AT PUEBLA /PUEBLO PLAZA PARK AS A MEANS OF INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THOSE MILITARY PERSONNEL WHO SERVED IN WORLD WAR II, THE KOREAN WAR, AND VIETNAM WAR, AND WHO ARE STILL MISSING AND MAY BE PRISONERS OF WAR. WHEREAS, There are over 5,000 men still missing and thought to be prisoners of war from the Second World War; over 3,000 men still missing and thought to be prisoners of war from the Korean War; and at least 2,500 men and women still missing and several hundred known to be prisoners from the Vietnam War; 41 from the Vietnam War being from the state of Colorado including four individuals from Pueblo County. WHEREAS, The City of Pueblo wants to make known to the State of Colorado and the world their care and concern for these POWS, and WHEREAS, This City Council wants to do their part to facilitate the early release of these POWS and can do so by increasing public awareness; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The POW /MIA Flag will fly with the U.S. Flag over Puebla /Pueblo Plaza Park until the POW issue has been resolved or until the governing body rules that it no longer serves a useful purpose.
