HomeMy WebLinkAbout10866 City Clerk's Office Item # R7 Background Paper for Proposed Ordinance COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 9, 2024 TO: President Mark Aliff and Members of City Council CC: Mayor Heather Graham VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Barb Huber, Fire Chief SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A COLORADO MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE STATE OF COLORADO, ACTING BY AND THROUGH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, TO PROVIDE WILDLAND FIRE MITIGATION CREW TIME TO THE CITY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: A grant award providing for 15 weeks of crew time AND $1000 for project management expenses from a Department of Corrections SWIFT crew to assist in wildland fire mitigation in the City. Acceptance of this grant does not have any financial impacts to the City. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of similar ordinance 10255 BACKGROUND: Approving and accepting a grant awarded to the City of Pueblo in an effort to reduce wildfire risk within the city limits. This grant will allow for wildland fire mitigation to take place along the Fountain and the Arkansas rivers. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Price for the initial 2.5 gallons of herbicide. The Grant Award Agreem Corporation, and the State of Colorado, acting by and through the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. Corporation, and the State of Colorado, acting by and through the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the attached Agreement to implement the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council.
