A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 13612,
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 13, 2017

payers presents a challenge to the City's economic and social wellbeing; and
WHEREAS, while studies suggest renewable energy resources will eventually be a cost-
effective source of future power generation, the current cost associated with the development
and implementation of a vision of the City of Pueblo being powered by 100% renewable energy
remains cost prohibitive; and
percentage of Pueblo's power generated by renewable energy sources through the installation
of additional wind and solar power has not produced the promised savings of $47.2 million; and
-income rate payers at a
disproportionate rate; and
WHEREAS, while the vision of 100% renewable energy sources powering the City of
Pueblo is a noble goal, the costs associated with a transition to 100% renewable energy is not
attainable by the year 2035; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Resolution 13612, adopted by Council February 13, 2017, is hereby rescinded.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts
consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described
herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage.

SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 13612,
ADOPTED FEBRUARY 13, 2017
SUMMARY:
Attached is a resolution rescinding Resolution 13612 which declared the City's intent to
ewable energy by 2035.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Resolution 13612, passed by City Council on February 13, 2017, resolved to derive
associated technologies by 2035.
BACKGROUND:
In 2017, then City Council members believed that because the City's electric franchisee
planned to increase renewable energy generation to 65% by 2035, and the
generation facility at Pueblo Dam, the goal of 100% renewable energy by 2035 was a
renewable energy generation to 65% would save the City $47 million by 2040.
However, the
Pueblo's power generated by renewable energy sources through the installation of
additional wind and solar power has not produced the promised savings of $47 million.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no immediate financial implications for the City.

ALTERNATIVES:
The City could continue to strive to obtain the goal of deriving 100% of all electricity
from renewable sources.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the resolution.
