Councilman APPROVED President of the Council ATTEST: w. ity Clerk RobertChinn 106 colorado ave. pueblo, colo. 81004 542 -7127 March 3, 1983 To the City of Pueblo: Robert Chinn Photography Studio, 106 Colorado Avenue, is moving next door to the old Chinn Drug Store, 100 Colorado Avenue. The building is being remodeled in spanish motif. The building presently has three doors; one on the corner of Abriendo, and two on Colorado. The front door on the corner of Abriendo is being closed off, but an emergency door is being installed on the Abriendo side next to Schnarre's Cards IN Gifts. We were told that this new door could not open out onto the sidewalk and a vestibule would have to be built so that the door would not open onto the sidewalk. We do not expect to use the door, it would be for emergen- cies only. It would not even have a handle on the outside. The sidewalk is 18' from the building to the street. Two news- paper stands are there now, which stick out just as much as a door would if opened, and that would only be in an emergency. Since people walk around the newspaper stands now, we don't see why there would be any problem. The vestibule would be more expensive, take up needed space, and will become a public c urinal and tras collector. I know from experience with the inset of our p !sent studio. The people who live around here 2 have no respect for anyones property, and would find a vestibule a perfect place to hide in, smoke in, urinate in, deface and it's hidden from view, which would create an easy way to break in. This has been quite a problem here at the Mesa Junction. The main entrance will be on the Colorado side, and again, the glass door will push out onto the sidewalk. We planned to have a vestibule built there to save on heat. They said again we couldn't have the door open in (the way it has been for the past 29 years) or out onto the sidewalk, which means another inset to become a urinal and trash collector. Since we plan on having a vestibule here, could we put a wrought iron gate up to keep people out at night and have it open during business hours? This could increase protection as well as look nice with our Spanish decor. The sidewalk here is 8 from the street to the building. Also, if possible, we would like to put a slight overhang above this door on Colorado with spanish the on it. We are enclosing a set of plans and photographs to show what we want to do. We would appreciate any help you can give us. Prompt attention is important since remodeling is now in progress. Thank you for your time. Sincerely IJ i Robert J. Chinn Owner RJC/sem Enclosures
