PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Ordinance 10428, dated March 27, 2023, approved an agreement for professional engineering services in the amount of $300,000 to Brown and Caldwell, Inc., for Project No.18-087 Wastewater Department Engineer of Record Stockyard Road 60- and 66- inch Pipeline CIPP Rehabilitation. BACKGROUND: The Wastewater Department requested design services to rehabilitate the existing 60- and 66-inch reinforced concrete sanitary sewer interceptor that serves the entire city. The existing main is in a condition where using a trenchless method by installing cured-in-place pipe, CIPP, will extend the useful life of the pipe. Amendment 1 to the contract will provide additional work for the project including an alternate design approach to the sewer bypass suction pit. This approach includes the design of a permanent concrete vault between the 102-inch brick storm sewer and the 60-inch RCP sanitary sewer. The concrete vault will be designed and constructed over the existing 48-inch HDPE sanitary sewer while it is in service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The cost of the agreement with Brown and Caldwell, Inc. to provide additional design services for the rehabilitation project will not exceed $160,874. Funds are available from the Sewer User Fund and have been appropriated to Project No. WWAN02. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this resolution will cancel the additional design requested by the Wastewater Department RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
