Whereas there is s now pending in Congress a measure which provides for the
retirement of aged and infirm Federal Civil service employees, known as the Hamill Bill,
H. R. 5139; and
Whereas the provisions of the Hamill Bill are such that the savings and
increased efficiency obtained by the replacing of superannuated employees with young
men at the minimum salary, would almost provide sufficient funds to carry out the plan
of retirement provided for in the bill; therefore, be it
Resolved, the City Council of Pueblo, Colorado, that believing that the enactment
of this measure into law would enable the heads of departments to reorganize their
forces and conduct the business of the Government with greater efficiency and
economy.
Resolved, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded by the City Clerk to the
United States Senators and our Representative from this Congressional District,
requesting them to support and work for the passage of the said Hamill Bill.
