TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF TITLE XVII OF THE PUEBLO
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO MULTIPLE TENANT SIGNAGE AND THE
CREATION OF HIGH RISE SIGN DISTRICT NUMBER 6 AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF
ISSUE
Should the City Council amend Chapter 10 of Title XVII of the Pueblo Municipal Code
relating to multiple tenant signage and the creation of High Rise Sign District 6?
The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their March 10, 2010 Regular Meeting, voted
5 -2 to recommend approval.
BACKGROUND
Under the existing code, the properties in the Pinion Ridge Commercial Center
Subdivision are permitted to each install 30' tall signage, at a maximum of 300 square
feet (Some of which could install two multiple tenant signage up to 800 square feet).
This proposed Ordinance would revise the sign code by adding High Rise Sign District 6
and amend the size requirements for multiple tenant signage. The Pinion Ridge
Commercial Center Subdivision is located at the Eden exit off 1 -25, just north of the
Pueblo Crossing area. This subdivision consists of 19 commercially zoned lots. The lot
at the southeast corner of Elizabeth and Platteville is the location of the proposed
Love's Truck Stop. Love's is requesting signage that is visible from 1 -25. Currently, this
is not permitted. The Love's site could, however, install a 30' tall, 800 square foot sign
that advertises the truck stop as well as the other two tenants on the site.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
