TITLE
AN ORDINANCE VACATING A PORTION OF LAKESHORE DRIVE ADJACENT TO
THE PROPOSED PUEBLO FIRE STATION NO. 4, SOUTH OF INDIANA AVENUE
AND NORTH OF NEVADA AVENUE
ISSUE
Shall City Council approve the request to vacate a 13,329- square foot portion of
Lakeshore Drive?
The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their October 14, 2009 Regular Meeting,
voted 6 -0 to recommend approval.
BACKGROUND
Lakeshore Drive was originally subdivided in 1903 as a 175 -foot right -of -way divided by
a median. The project portion of Lakeshore Drive was resubdivided in 1935 and
reduced to a 100 -foot right -of -way. As proposed, a portion of Fire Station No. 4 will
extend into Lakeshore Drive requiring a vacation of a portion of the right -of -way.
Despite the vacation, Lakeshore Drive will remain open for free passage of the public
and will continue to provide access to the adjacent businesses. Pepper Whittlef, City
Traffic Engineer and Joe Martellaro, Associate Engineer met with the adjacent business
owners on Friday, September 18, 2009 to discuss the project and it appeared that all
interested parties were amenable to the project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
