HomeMy WebLinkAbout08084ORDINANCE NO. 8084 AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATON PROGRAM AND THE HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE- HOUSING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City Council approved and authorized grant agreements for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing (HPRP) Grants by Ordinance No. 8051, and Ordinance No. 8048, respectively, passed and approved on August 24, 2009. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Neighborhood Stabilization Program Grant funds in the amount of $2,906,977 and Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing funds in the amount of $678,970 are hereby budgeted and appropriated in Fund 240 and Fund 241, respectively, for eligible activities under the grant as defined by the grant agreements. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Ordinance. BACKGROUND The City of Pueblo submitted an application to the State's Division of Housing for an allocation of Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds. An allocation of $2,906,977 was received. The grant was approved and authorized under Ordinance No. 8051. The State has executed the Agreement and the City can begin to undertake activities under the grant. The City also submitted an application to HUD for an allocation of Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing (HPRP) funds. An allocation of $678,970 was received. The grant was approved and authorized under Ordinance No. 8048 The grant contracts have been executed by the State and HUD. The City needs to appropriate and budget for eligible activities under the grant in their respective funds. FINANCIAL IMPACT Grant funds in the amount $2,906,977 will be available for the purchase, rehabilitation and resale of foreclosed properties in Fund 240. Funds in the amount of $678,970 will be available for homelessness prevention activities in Fund 241.
