PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF ELECTIONS
ISSUE
Should the City Council pass and approve the proposed Ordinance that corrects the definition of
"Regular Election" in the Code of Ordinances?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
At the General Municipal Election held on November 8, 2005, Section 17 -2 of the Charter of the
City of Pueblo was amended by the vote of the people changing the date of regular elections.
The date of Municipal elections was changed from "the first Tuesday after the first Monday of
November in each odd numbered year" to "the first Tuesday of November in each odd
numbered year".
This Ordinance updates Section 5 -2 -1 (13) of the Pueblo Municipal Code to coincide with
Section 17 -2 of the City Charter, which defines the date of elections. This amendment can be
characterized as a housekeeping measure.
