RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Ordinance. BACKGROUND The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice Recovery Act Justice Assistance Grant (Colorado Recovery Act JAG) Program provides funds to units of local government for the purpose of improving law enforcement technology and upgrading necessary equipment. The program is designed to help local communities address problems specific to their area. This grant will provide for criminal justice information - sharing project software known as CopLink. The project will provide information for the police department and the sheriff's department to connect their Records Management Systems with the Colorado Information Sharing Consortium serving the Front Range Counties. The Consortium provides a computerized linking of law enforcement records systems in all of the participating agencies through which an agency can then conduct searches for persons, property, vehicles and weapons suspected of criminal involvement in the files of the various agencies. FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no City match for the grant. The City will receive $193,966.00 of Colorado Recovery Act JAG Grant Funds to use for the P.R.I.D.E. Project. This is a two -year grant and the maintenance cost per year will be approximately $15,195.00.
