HomeMy WebLinkAbout15797RESOLUTION NO. 15797 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2024 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,250 TO SPONSOR THE 34TH ANNUAL PARADE OF LIGHTS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2024 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $1,250 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Downtown Association to sponsor the 34th Annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 30, 2024. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council supported this event for $1,250 in 2023 and for $1,000 in 2022. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $1,250 to sponsor the 34th Annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 30, 2024. For the past 34 (thirty-four) years, the Pueblo Parade of Lights has signaled the beginning of the Holiday Season in Pueblo. This family-oriented event attracts more than 50,000 people from throughout Southern Colorado and hosts nearly 100 parade entries: from marching bands to theme floats. This year's theme is "Toys, Trains and Candy Canes." FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Payment of funds in the amount of $1,250 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Downtown Association. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
