AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROJECT NO. CP0917, RONCALLI TRAIL, AND

OF $180,000 THEREFOR
ISSUE
Should the City Council approve the establishment of the Roncalli Trail Project, and
transfer, budget and appropriate the amount of $180,000 for the project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Ordinance.
BACKGROUND
This Ordinance establishes the Roncalli Trail Project for the reconstruction of a 3,750'
bicycle /pedestrian trail along the south side of Northern Avenue between Encino Drive and
eastern boundary of Roncalli Middle School. The trail will be constructed at either an 8' or
10' width based on final cost estimates and CDOT permit requirements for the trail to be
constructed within their right -of -way. The project will need to be designed to accommodate
access for maintenance of the existing overhead utility lines along the edge of the highway
right -of -way.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The project is estimated to cost $180,000 and is planned to be completed before the end of
2009. The revenue sources for the project are $55,000 from the Southwest Pueblo Park
Account CP0915 and $25,000 from the City Council contingencies account. In addition,
it is estimated that Lottery revenues will be at least $100,000 higher than originally
anticipated in the 2009 budget, and this amount will also be transferred as an additional
source of revenue for the project.
