PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The Stormwater Utility Enterprise has planned an upgrade project on the northeastern end of Lake Minnequa to construct new controlled gate valves within the exiting outlet pipes. The current system requires stormwater crews to manually adjust the flow levels by raising and lowering a metal plate on a screen in front of the outlet pipes. This project will install a new manhole and gate valve on each of the exiting outlet pipes. The new gate valves will be manually operable from the surface and will allow for precise control of the discharge coming from Lake Minnequa going to the Arkansas River. The new gate valves will also provide the ability to completely shutoff flows from Lake Minnequa to allow for maintenance of the system downstream. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding, including contingencies, in the amount of $79,362.80 for this project will come from account SW2301 Lake Minnequa Water Control Gates. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Failure to complete these control valve upgrades will directly impact the ability to upgrade the stormwater infrastructure within the Bessemer neighborhood. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: 1. 24-021R Bid Summary Lake Minnequa Water Control Gates - Rebid
