BACKGROUND The U.S. Army Reset Program project is an initiative that is aimed at assisting veteran (retired and disabled) owned small businesses in procuring work from the US military. This includes military sustainment through repairing current military equipment and systems, instead of purchasing new equipment. Currently, there is a pilot project for the US Navy that is occurring in Pueblo with a one -year funding allowance. Already efforts have begun identifying candidates to work and be established at the PEDCO offices downtown, to recruit and coordinate local companies to pilot the US Navy project. In order to keep this project moving this project forward into the future to serve the needs of Fort Carson and other military bases in close proximity, an implementation plan needs to developed. The development of this plan must begin immediately and will need a financial contribution from the city in the amount of $30,000. The County has committed $30,000, as well, to this project. The funds will be used to coordinate efforts of 20 -25 small- medium firms that are interested in positioning work/personnel in Pueblo toward support of the U.S. Army Reset Program and marketing programs /efforts from the Alion Corporation. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Ordinance. FINANCIAL IMPACT An increase of $30,000 will be adjusted to the 2008 General Fund Budget.
