BACKGROUND
The City's Transportation and Planning Departments worked with Hellbeck Elementary to
secure a safe routes to school grant through the Colorado Department of Transportation. The
safe routes to school grant program is designed to be a cooperative process between the
Municipality and the School District with a common goal of providing safe alternatives for
children walking and biking to school. The Hellbeck Elementary School project installs
sidewalk, curb ramps, intersection bumpouts and establishes bike routes in the neighborhood.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant is 100% federally funded; there is no financial impact to the City of Pueblo
