HomeMy WebLinkAbout07826ORDINANCE NO. 7826 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 16 OF CHAPTER 5 OF TITLE VI AND THE FISCAL YEAR 2008 STAFFING ORDINANCE AND RELATING TO THE STORMWATER CREW LEADER POSITION, ESTABLISHING A PAY RANGE FOR SUCH POSITION AND ABOLISHING THE STREET INSPECTOR POSITION WITHIN THE STORMWATER DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, in the interest of promoting greater efficiency, the Stormwater Crew Leader position should be filled by an employee whose sole responsibilities and duties are that of the Stormwater Crew Leader. With such addition, the Stormwater Crew Leader should also be required to perform the duties of the Street Inspector thus making such position in the Stormwater Department obsolete. Now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: (brackets indicate matter deleted, underscoring indicates matter added) SECTION 1 _ Section 16 of Chapter 5 of Title VI is amended by the addition of the following salary schedule and Class (A) pay range for the Stormwater Crew Leader position: Stormwater Crew Leader 3403.17 3502.76 3703.17 3904.76 4003.17 4053.58 4117.15 4178.37 4240.77 4366.75 SECTION 2. The following section captioned "Stormwater " of Ordinance No. 7697, being the 2008 Staffing Ordinance, is amended as follows: Director of Stormwater Utility 1 Stormwater Coordinator 1 Stormwater Utility Maintenance Supervisor 1 Associate Engineer II /Stormwater Utility 1 Inspector /Stormwater Utility 1 Stormwater Crew Leader 1 [Street Inspector 1] Equipment Operator IV 3 Utility Worker /Equipment Operator 1 8 Administrative Technician .5 Total 17.5 SECTION 3. RECOMMENDATION The Stormwater Director and the Acting Human Resources Director recommend that this ordinance be approved. BACKGROUND The duties of the Street Inspector in the Stormwater Department Utility Maintenance Division have evolved over the last year and thus the position needs to be elevated to a higher level. The Stormwater Crew Leader position should be filled by an employee whose sole responsibilities and duties are that of the Stormwater Crew Leader. With such addition, the Stormwater Crew Leader should also be required to perform the duties of the Street Inspector thus making such position in the Stormwater Department obsolete. FINANCIAL IMPACT The cost of the salary increase not including benefits is approximately $2365
