ISSUE
Should City Council pass and approve the proposed, Ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION
The City Manager and the Acting Human Resources Director recommend that
this ordinance be passed and approved.
BACKGROUND
With the recent retirement of the Senior Auto Mechanic in the Fleet Maintenance
Division, the administration is now able to return an Auto Mechanic from the
Streets Division ;back to his original assignment in the Fleet Maintenance
Division. In the interest of economy, the Senior Auto Mechanic position will be
abolished. It is further the Determination of the Director of Public Works and the
Acting Human Resources Director that the needs of the Streets Division will best
be met by the establishment of a new Utility Worker position in the Streets
Division.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The salary savings resulting from these staffing adjustments will be
approximately $23,256.
