The following section captioned " Public Works — Streets Division of Ordinance No. 7697, being the 2008 Staffing Ordinance, is amended as follows: Public Works - Streets Division Streets Superintendent 1 Street Maintenance Supervisor 1 Street Inspector 2 Area Crew Leader 2 Pavement Management Tech 1 Equipment Operator IV 6 Equipment Operator II 4 [Auto Mechanic 1] Utility Worker /Equipment Operator 1 [11] 12 Utility & Maintenance Worker 1 Sr Clerk Typist 1 Total 31 SECTION 2. The following section captioned " Fleet Maintenance of Ordinance No. 7697, being the 2008 Staffing Ordinance, is amended as follows: Fleet Maintenance Fleet Superintendent 1 Shops Supervisor 1 [Sr Auto Mechanic 1] Auto Mechanic [5] 6 Parts Clerk 2 Sr Clerk Typist 1 Total 11 SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. ORDINANCE tAMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2008 STAFFING ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE POSITIONS OF SENIOR AUTO MECHANIC, AUTO MECHANIC, AND UTILITY WORKER ISSUE Should City Council pass and approve the proposed, Ordinance. RECOMMENDATION The City Manager and the Acting Human Resources Director recommend that this ordinance be passed and approved. BACKGROUND With the recent retirement of the Senior Auto Mechanic in the Fleet Maintenance Division, the administration is now able to return an Auto Mechanic from the Streets Division ;back to his original assignment in the Fleet Maintenance Division. In the interest of economy, the Senior Auto Mechanic position will be abolished. It is further the Determination of the Director of Public Works and the Acting Human Resources Director that the needs of the Streets Division will best be met by the establishment of a new Utility Worker position in the Streets Division. FINANCIAL IMPACT The salary savings resulting from these staffing adjustments will be approximately $23,256.
