HomeMy WebLinkAbout07671ORDINANCE NO. 7671 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING ZONING RESTRICTIONS FROM R -2 TO S -1 COVERING A PARCEL OF LAND DIRECTLY EAST OF RAWLINGS FIELD AND RAWLINGS BOULEVARD BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The zoning restrictions covering the following described property be changed from R -2, Single - Family Residential District to S -1, Governmental Use District, and upon passage of this ordinance, zoning restrictions affecting S -1, Governmental Use District, shall apply to said property: A parcel of land located in the W Y2 of the NW '/4 and the W Y2 of the SW '/4 of Section 16, Township 20 South, Range 64 West of the 6 th P.M. in the County of Pueblo and State of Colorado and being more particularly described as follows: Considering the West line of the NW Y4 of Section 16, Township 20 South, Range 64 West of the 6 th P.M. to bear N. 01 °50'55" W., and all bearings contained herein being relative thereto. Beginning at the WY4 corner of said Section 16; thence N. 01 0 50'55" W., along the West line of said Section 16, a distance of 852.22 feet; thence N. 88 0 56'36" E., a distance of 553.73 feet; thence S. 01 E., a distance of 1103.33 feet; thence S. 88 0 08'57" W., a distance of 553.69 feet to a point on the West line of said Section 16; thence N. 01 0 51'15" W., along the West line of said Section 16, a distance of 258.78 feet to the Point of Beginning. Containing 14.07 acres, more or less. and more commonly known as: property located north of State Highway 47, east of CSU- Pueblo. SECTION 2. PACHECO, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TITLE AN ORDINANCE CHANGING ZONING RESTRICTIONS FROM R -2 TO S -1 COVERING A PARCEL OF LAND DIRECTLY EAST OF RAWLINGS FIELD AND RAWLINGS BOULEVARD ISSUE Shall City Council approve a request to rezone the property from R -2, Single - Family Residential District to, to S -1 Governmental Use District, to facilitate the construction of a football stadium, track and field and supporting athletic facility? RECOMMENDATION The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their September 12, 2007 regular meeting, voted 7 -0 to recommend approval. BACKGROUND The applicant is requesting the Zoning Map Amendment to facilitate the construction of a football stadium, track and field and supporting athletic facility. The facility will be leased to the University for an indefinite period of time and will be run as a public institution. The rezoning from R -2 to S -1 will allow the sports complex to be run as a state institution for the purpose of university athletics. The total development will include a football stadium, which will accommodate 6,000 spectators; an eight lane competition all- weather track and associated field event facilities. An additional 23,300 square feet within the complex will be provided for office space for coaches and personnel, reception area, conference room, meeting rooms, locker room, training room, weight room, storage, and the required restrooms.
