All expenditures of this project shall be paid there from. SECTION 3. The transfer of $55,000 from the interest earnings on the 1992 -2006 Sales and Use Tax Capital Improvement Projects Fund is hereby authorized. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon final passage and approval. RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Ordinance BACKGROUND The 2007 budget includes $896,747 for acquisition and implementation of new public safety computer systems. $100,000 of that appropriation was planned for the Fire Department's incident report system and associated software. (The remaining $796,747 was planned for new Police Department software and Computer Aided Dispatch [CAD] software used by both the Police and Fire Departments). After conducting a competitive process for the purpose of evaluating options for a new system, representatives from the Fire Department and the Information Technology Department are prepared to recommend that the City acquire Fire Department software, hardware, and implementation that will cost a total of $155,000. An additional appropriation of $55,000 is needed to fully fund that acquisition. FINANCIAL IMPACT Project C1 Police /Fire Software System, was appropriated the amount of $896,747. Of this amount, $796,747 is for the purchase of the police software systems, with the remaining $100,000 available for the fire department software. An additional $55,0000 is needed to complete the purchase, installation and implementation of the new Fire Department software. These funds are available from the interest earned on the half -cent sales tax, which may be spent for capital needs of the City.
