HomeMy WebLinkAbout07554ORDINANCE NO. 7554 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT # CO -04- 0001 -00 BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE THE SAME AND AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF ONE (1) REPLACEMENT 35 — 40 FOOT ADA TRANSIT COACH AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $4,351 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVES, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Grant Agreement # CO -04- 0001 -00 between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation and the United States of America, Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration for the purpose of purchasing one (1) 35 -40 foot ADA Transit Coach for replacement of one (1) non -ADA Transit Coach, the "Project', a copy of which is attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The President of City Council is hereby authorized to execute said Grant Agreement on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the Seal of the City to the Grant Agreement and attest the same. SECTION 3. The City of Pueblo is authorized to accept the option of one (1) replacement 35 -40 foot ADA Transit Coach from the Clemson Area Transit procurement. The City Purchasing Agent is authorized to issue a purchase order to Optima Bus Corporation in the amount of $278,750. In addition a required City match of $4,351 will be transferred from the City's General Fund Reserves. DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TITLE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT # CO -04- 0001 -00 BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE THE SAME AND AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF ONE (1) REPLACEMENT 35 — 40 FOOT ADA TRANSIT COACH AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF $4,351 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVES, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFORE ISSUE Should the City Council enter into a Grant Agreement with the United States of America and transfer $4,351 from the City's General Fund Reserves for the purpose of purchasing one (1) replacement 35 — 40 foot ADA Transit Coach RECOMMENDATION Approval of Ordinance BACKGROUND Pueblo Transit has been allocated a Federal Capital Grant # CO -04- 0001 -00 for FY 2006, funding in the amount of $221,404. These funds are intended to purchase one (1) 35 — 40 foot ADA Transit Coach for replacement of a non -ADA Transit Coach. FINANCIAL IMPACT In the 2006 budget, the total capital cost was estimated to be $255,000. However, the total project cost (bus purchase) is now anticipated to be $278,750. The difference of $23,750 will come from the following: $17,404 increase in the federal grant award; $1,995 carried forward from 2005 unspent capital project funds (project BCO503); and an additional required match of $4,351 to be transferred from the City's general fund reserve. An amendment to the "Application for Federal Assistance' (attached) will be submitted to FTA to reflect the increase in the bus cost.
