A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2024 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO MARIPOSA CENTER FOR SAFETY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $1,000 TO SPONSOR THE 23RD ANNUAL
TRIBUTE TO WOMEN AWARDS CEREMONY ON SATURDAY,
OCTOBER 5, 2024, AT 6 PM AT THE RAWLINGS LIBRARY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Mariposa Center for Safety to sponsor the 23rd
Annual Tribute to Women Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 6 pm at the
Rawlings Library.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Mariposa Center for Safety in the
amount of $1,000 to sponsor the 23rd Annual Tribute to Women Awards Ceremony on
Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 6 pm at the Rawlings Library.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported this event for $500 in 2020, 2019, and 2018.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $1,000 to support Mariposa Center
for Safety with a table at the 23rd Annual Tribute to Women Awards Ceremony on
Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 6 pm at the Rawlings Library.
Mariposa Center for Safety's mission is to increase self-sufficiency and self-worth by
empowering survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and
family abuse through education, prevention, client advocacy, and emergency services
including sheltering.
In 2024, Mariposa Center for Safety (formerly the YWCA of Pueblo) provided services
to 322 adults, 74 children, we provided 12,683 meals, 5,247 shelter nights and
answered 245 crisis calls on our 24-7 domestic violence crisis line. Your sponsorship
will directly support operational and program costs, which benefit the entire city of
Pueblo and Pueblo County.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget to Mariposa Center for Safety
to sponsor the 23rd Annual Tribute to Women Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October
5, 2024, at 6 pm at the Rawlings Library.
