ISSUE Should the City Council approve an adjustment in the Emergency Telephone Charge for the 2007 calendar year? RECOMMENDATION Approval of the Ordinance. BACKGROUND In 2001 the City Council initiated an emergency telephone charge of forty cents per month per exchange access facility and wireless communication access within the City of Pueblo. Due to the increased cost of operating this service and the need to update and upgrade equipment for the E -911 service, it is recommended that the surcharge be increased by thirty cents per month, to seventy cents. FINANCIAL IMPACT It is anticipated that this increase will produce and additional $250,000 to $300,000 per year, increasing the annual Fund revenue to approximately $700,000.
