AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE APPROPRIATION AND
BUDGETING AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $48,516.25 TO CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT CP0302 FOR FIBER OPTIC EXPANSION
WHEREAS, high- speed, reliable, and secure voice and data communications from the 911
Dispatch Center and the Pueblo Police Department to the Pueblo Fire Department headquarters are
required, and;
WHEREAS, all City Departments will benefit from the high- speed, reliable, and secure voice
and data communications available through the deployment of fiber optic communications systems;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The amount of $30,000 is hereby transferred from the E911 fund to Capital Improvement
Project CP0302 for the purpose of the expanding and activating fiber optic infrastructure for public
safety purposes.
SECTION 2.
The amount of $9,131.36 is hereby transferred from Capital Improvement Project CP0140 —
Technology Upgrades to Capital Improvement Project CP0302 for the purpose of the expanding and
activating fiber optic infrastructure. The amount of $1,030.10 is hereby transferred from Capital
Improvement Project CP9905 — Computer System Replacement to Capital Improvement Project
CP0302 for the purpose of the expanding the City's fiber optic infrastructure. The amount of $1,354.79
is hereby transferred from Capital Improvement Project CP0301 — Network and Computer Security to
Capital Improvement Project CP0302 for the purpose of the expanding the City's fiber optic
infrastructure.
SECTION 3.
The amount of $7,000 is hereby transferred from Information Technology budget account 101-
0910- 411.44.01 — Rentals, to Capital Improvement Project CP0302 for the purpose of the expanding
the City's fiber optic infrastructure.

OPTIC EXPANSION.
ISSUE
Should E911 funds be expended to acquire network equipment and completion of fiber optic
cable construction and installation, facilitating high -speed connectivity from the 911 Dispatch
Center and the Pueblo Police Department to the Pueblo Fire Department Headquarters?
Should funds from other technology- related Capital Improvement Projects and the Information
Technology Department budget be used to further expand the City's fiber optic infrastructure?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Ordinance
BACKGROUND
The ordinance will allow completion of construction and provide for the activation of fiber
optic cable from the 911 Dispatch Center and the Pueblo Police Department to the Pueblo Fire
Department Headquarters. This will improve the reliability and speed of data and voice
communications among three key public safety functional areas. The ordinance would also
allow existing technology- related Capital Improvement Project funds and Information
Technology department funds to be used for fiber optic expansion that would benefit other City
departments.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
• $30,000 would be expended from the E911.
• $11,516.25 would be transferred from three technology- related Capital Improvement
Projects to the Fiber Optic Expansion project.
• $7,000 would be transferred from the Information Technology budget to the Fiber Optic
Expansion project.
