AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE
SUM OF $82,997.00 ($74,697.00 IN FEDERAL FUNDS AND $8,300.00 IN LOCAL MATCHING
FUNDS) FROM THE STATE OF COLORADO, DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, JUVENILE
ACCOUNTABILITY INCENTIVE BLOCK GRANT (JAIBG) PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF
PUEBLO, MUNICIPAL COURT PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE SAME
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The grant award from the State of Colorado, Division of Criminal Justice, Juvenile
Accountability Incentive Block Grant (JAIBG) program for the City of Pueblo, Municipal Court
project in the sum of $82,997.00 ($74,697.00 in federal funds and $8,300.00 in local matching
funds) a copy of which is attached is hereby approved and accepted. The City Manager is hereby
authorized to accept and execute the grant award in the name and on behalf of the City.
SECTION 2_
The sum of $82,997.00 is appropriated per the grant in projects PD 0303 through PD 0305.

BLOCK GRANT (JAIBG) PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF PUEBLO, MUNICIPAL
COURT PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAME.
ISSUE
This resolution concerns a sixth (e.) year continuation grant for funds from the
Colorado Department of Criminal Justice, Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant
(JAIBG) Program. The grant period runs from October 1, 2004 through September 30,
2005. The City of Pueblo has been allocated funding in the amount of $74,697.00. As
in the past five (5) years, the City of Pueblo and the County of Pueblo have collaborated
their efforts into one project which includes the following: (1) Probation Services, (2)
Interagency Information Sharing Services, and (3) Restorative Justice Services. A 10%
total match of $8,300.00 is required from the grantee, for a total project amount of
$82,997.00. The 10% total local match includes $2,021.00 from the County of Pueblo
and $6,279.00 from the City of Pueblo.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the ordinance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The local matching funds requirement is 10°x6 ($8,300.00) of the total sixth year grant
($82,997.00). The sixth year grant period runs from 10/1/04 through 9/30/05. Keeping
that in mind, the local matching funds requirement 10 % ($8,300.00) was projected and
built into the 2004 budget. The seventh year grant will run from 10/1/05 through 9/30/06
and the local matching funds requirement has been projected and will be built into the
2005 budget. In addition, in the way of an offset, the City of Pueblo receives an equal
amount (10 %) from the grant in administrative and processing fees for each grant
period in question.
