PS2407 FOR EMERGENCY AND TRAUMA EDUCATION GRANT, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000, WHICH INCLUDES A TEN PERCENT COST MATCH OF $2,500 FOR THE PURPOSES AUTHORIZED BY THE GRANT AGREEMENT SUMMARY: Attached is a grant agreement between the City of Pueblo and the Colorado Resource for Emergency and Trauma Education, in the award amount of $22,500. Grant funds will cover ninety percent of education costs for four Pueblo Fire Department employees. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of similar CREATE grant in 2023, 2018 and 2017. BACKGROUND: The purpose of the (CDHPE) CREATE grant is to provide funding, in the amount of $22,500 directly to the City of Pueblo Fire Department in order to protect the health and safety of the public by enrolling four (4) Pueblo Fire Department employees in paramedic classes at Pueblo Community College (PCC). The City of Pueblo will be required to contribute a ten percent match to Project No. PS2407 in the amount of $2,500 from the Fire Department budget in the General Fund. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The anticipated total cost for the project is $25,000. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) share for the CREATE Colorado Resource for Emergency and Trauma Education grant is $22,500 and the ten percent City match is $2,500. Staff time will be required for project management, as well as grant monitoring General Fund. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: None. PS2407 FOR EMERGENCY AND TRAUMA EDUCATION GRANT, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000, WHICH INCLUDES A TEN PERCENT COST MATCH OF $2,500 FOR THE PURPOSES AUTHORIZED BY THE GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has tendered a grant award to the City of Pueblo in the amount of $22,500 and WHEREAS, acceptance of the award is in the best interest of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment grant in the amount of $22,500 and Grant Agreement Articles, true copies of which are attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, are hereby approved and accepted. SECTION 2. Project No. PS2407 Colorado Resource for Emergency and Trauma Education grant is hereby established. The total project amount of $25,000 is hereby budgeted and appropriated to Project No. PS2407 for expenditure for the purposes authorized by the grant agreement. SECTION 3. Budget in the General Fund to Project No. PS2407. SECTION 4. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with intent of this Ordinance and the attached contract to effectuate the transactions described therein. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council.
