Section 1 of Resolution No. 15637 is deleted in its entirety and amended to read as follows: SECTION 1. Project FD2401 - Fire Stations No. 6, 8, and 11 and Project FD2402 - Pumper Fire Apparatus are hereby established. SECTION 2. Section 2 of Resolution No. 15637 is deleted in its entirety and amended to read as follows: SECTION 2. Funds in the amount of $900,000 for Project FD2402 - Pumper Fire Apparatus, and funds in the amount of $33,550,000, plus any future funds, for Project FD2401 - Fire Stations No. 6, 8, and 11, shall be allocated from already budgeted and appropriated funding. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. INTRODUCED: August 12, 2024 BY: Regina Maestri MEMBER OF CITY COUNCIL APPROVED: __________________________ PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL ATTESTED BY: ________________________ CITY CLERK City Clerk's Office Item # M17 Background Paper for Proposed Resolution COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 12, 2024 TO: President Mark Aliff and Members of City Council CC: Mayor Heather Graham VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Andrew Hayes, Public Works Director SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 15637 TO UPDATE THE FINANCE ACCOUNT NUMBERS ASSIGNED TO THE PROJECTS TO CONSTRUCT FIRE STATIONS 6, 8, AND 11; AND TO PROCURE NEW FIRE APPARATUS SUMMARY: A Resolution amending Resolution No. 15637 to update the finance project numbers associated with the projects to construct Fire Stations 6, 8, and 11 and to purchase new fire apparatus. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: On May 13, 2024, City Council approved Resolution No. 15637 which established two finance projects including CI2435 for the construction of Fire Stations 6, 8, and 11; and CI2434 for the procurement of new fire apparatus. BACKGROUND: Funding for the projects to construct the fire stations and to procure new fire pumper apparatus is being obtained through certificates of participation (COP's) which are separate from the City's General Fund balance that funds many other capital improvement projects. Capital improvement projects funded from the City's General Fund are typically designated with a "CI" project prefix. Because a separate fund was established for the purpose of funding these projects, it is most appropriate to provide a different account prefix designation to make the distinction in fund types more clear. This Resolution will amend the Resolution that established the original project account numbers to create two new finance project account numbers: FD2401 - Fire Stations No. 6, 8, and 11, and FD2401 - Pumper Fire Apparatus FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This Resolution makes administrative changes to assign new project numbers to the subject project accounts. There is no change to the anticipated project costs associated with this action. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: Failure to approve this Resolution will preclude City staff from making the administrative changes necessary to assigned updated project account numbers for the specified projects. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: None
